Plymouth, 29 November 2024 – Sarah Sabater, CEO of CareYourWay, has been honoured with the prestigious Inspirational Leader of the Year award at the West Country Women Awards held last night in Plymouth. This recognition highlights her outstanding leadership, compassion, and tireless dedication to transforming the home care sector.
In 2005, Sarah and her husband, Manuel, founded CareYourWay with a clear mission: to transform lives through outstanding care, one home, one family, and one person at a time. Starting from a humble home office, the business has flourished into a leading provider with a network of services reaching across the nation. Under Sarah’s leadership, CareYourWay has been recognised as one of the UK’s top providers, with an “Outstanding” rating of their South Devon office from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2019, placing the business in the top 2% of home care providers nationwide.
Sarah’s win at the West Country Women Awards is a testament to her unwavering commitment to the care sector and her determination to make home care as reputable and respected as 'five-star heart' service. Her leadership has inspired not only her family, who are integral to the business, but also her dedicated teams, who help hundreds of individuals receive the highest quality care in their homes every day.
In her acceptance speech, Sarah reflected on the journey:
"This award is not just for me—it’s for everyone who shares our vision and is working towards changing the face of care. It’s been a journey of hard work, passion, and a deep belief in the difference we can make."
Sarah’s influence extends far beyond business success. As an advocate for better working conditions and recognition for carers, she has used her platform to highlight key issues such as the unfair pay structures in the industry. Her role as an influencer has seen her featured on BBC Spotlight, discussing the challenges in the home care sector, and she has worked with local MPs to push for improvements in care worker conditions.
Locally, Sarah and CareYourWay have launched initiatives such as Present for a Pensioner, a programme providing Christmas hampers to those in need, which has grown exponentially each year, which has flourished into a nationwide annual event. Sarah’s leadership has also inspired a culture of giving back, with CareYourWay employees organising charity events and fundraisers to support the community.
Under Sarah’s guidance, CareYourWay has not only created a legacy of care, but a legacy of leadership. Her dedication to mentoring the next generation of leaders, both within CareYourWay and in the wider care industry, is a key pillar of her success. As the company looks ahead, Sarah and her family team envisions expanding CareYourWay to over 150 communities across the UK in the next decade.
As Sarah takes her place among the most inspiring leaders of the year, it’s clear that her work has touched countless lives, and her passion for transforming care will continue to guide the future of the industry.
"We’re incredibly proud of Sarah and all she has achieved," said her Son, COO Jonathan Sabater. "Her leadership is truly inspiring, and we are truly fortunate to have someone who cares so deeply about making a real difference in people’s lives."
Sarah’s Inspirational Leader of the Year award is not just a personal achievement, but a reflection of the values and vision that have shaped CareYourWay into the exceptional service it is today.
