CareYourWay Continues the Conversation on Person-Centred Dementia Care at Care Roadshow Wales

A warm and inspiring close to the 2025 Roadshow calendar, where Sarah Sabater chaired a heartfelt panel continuing to explore the importance of person-centred care.

A Positive Moment for the Care Community

Care Roadshow Wales, part of a respected UK-wide series of regional care events, welcomed care providers, professionals and families for a day of learning and thoughtful discussion. The Roadshows are known for creating supportive environments where people can share ideas, learn from one another and explore how to continually improve the lives of older adults and those needing dedicated support.

At the last Roadshow of 2025 held at the Cardiff City Stadium in Wales, CareYourWay was delighted to take part. Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Sabater, chaired an engaging panel alongside Chief Operations Officer, Jonathan Sabater, with additional contributions from representatives at Hallmark Luxury Care Homes and Allegra Care.

This was the second seminar CareYourWay contributed to this year, reflecting the organisation’s continued dedication to raising standards of compassionate and personalised care.

Understanding and Supporting People Living With Dementia

One of the key topics explored by the panel was how care teams can be supported to deliver thoughtful and understanding dementia care across all settings. This included home care, supported living and residential services.

The discussion highlighted several key points that families often value most:

  • communicating in a way that helps each person express their wishes comfortably
  • recognising how small, familiar details can reduce anxiety and bring reassurance
  • providing training that builds confidence, patience and genuine empathy
  • using immersive VR dementia training: Jonathan shared that CareYourWay has adpoted this method and offers carers a closer understanding of what daily life may feel like for someone living with dementia

For families and loved ones, this focus offers peace of mind. It reflects CareYourWay’s belief that every person deserves support that is kind, respectful and rooted in real understanding.

Keeping Care Truly Personal and Centreed on the Individual

The panel then explored what it means to provide care that is genuinely person-centred. Speakers reflected on how high-quality care is shaped by listening attentively, respecting personal routines, and understanding the little things that matter most to each person.

This approach is supported through:

  • asking thoughtful questions about what someone values
  • recognising what helps them feel comfortable and secure at home
  • noting meaningful details that make daily life smoother and more familiar
  • making sure that every member of the care team understands these preferences

This shared awareness across the entire team helps ensure that care feels consistent, dignified and uniquely tailored. For families and loved ones, it means knowing that their relative is supported in a way that feels truly personal at every stage.

The Value of Real Stories and Shared Experience

The panel also reflected on the power of lived experiences. These include heartfelt moments from families, meaningful observations from care professionals and the personal journeys of those receiving care.

By sharing these stories, care teams can learn from one another, understand different perspectives and strengthen their approach. This helps create a care community that is always growing, always listening and always improving.

One attendee described the session as “truly inspirational” and expressed gratitude for the open and thoughtful discussion.

Looking Ahead and Special Thanks

CareYourWay’s involvement in the 2025 Roadshow highlights its commitment to working hand in hand with families, professionals and partner organisations. Sarah and Jonathan expressed how grateful they were to contribute to two seminars this year, and how inspired they feel by the shared vision of raising standards across the care sector.

For older adults and their families, the message is clear. When care providers, teams and communities come together with genuine compassion, it becomes possible to deliver support that is not only safe and high quality, but also deeply personal and guided by the little things that matter most.

CareYourWay looks forward to continuing these conversations throughout 2026, always with the aim of ensuring care remains warm, individual and centred on each person’s unique life and preferences.
