Motor Neurone Disease Care

Learning to live with motor neurone disease, and adapting to changes in the condition over time, can be challenging.

Introduction

Learning to live with motor neurone disease, and adapting to changes in the condition over time, can be challenging. At Care Your Way, we can provide you or your loved ones with the right support at home.

Over 5,000 people in the UK are living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). We work with a number of clients with MND, and through our experience understand the physical and emotional challenges that come with living with this condition.

How Can We Help?

The care you receive from our care staff will depend on what your medical and personal requirements are. We will take into account your interests and hobbies as well as the treatment you are currently receiving so that your care plan reflects your specific requirements. We can work with local physiotherapists to ensure you are receiving appropriate treatment for muscle cramps and stiffness.

As the condition progresses, seemingly simple day-to-day activities may become more difficult. We work closely with our clients experiencing MND, and their families, to help them adapt and adjust to their condition while remaining in the comfort of their own home. That goes beyond just looking after physical health needs; we also focus on providing support for our clients’ overall wellbeing, whether that’s enabling access to hobbies and interests, facilitating lifestyle choices, or supporting family interaction. At Care Your Way, we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of care as standard. Our teams of personal care assistants, matched to each of our clients, undergo comprehensive general and client-specific training to ensure they uphold the highest standards of care. What’s more, they build close working relationships with our clients, and as a result, are often ideally placed to identify early signs and symptoms of progression and initiate an appropriate response.

Innovation in Care

We take an innovative approach to work with our clients and identifying ways to maximise their independence. That might mean implementing changes to routine or systems in the home or enabling our clients to do more on the broader community.

We work with our clients, their families, and all healthcare professionals involved in their care – GPs, hospitals, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists – to ensure the care we provide is appropriate and considerate of all needs.

Personalised Care Plans

Here at Care Your Way we go the extra mile to ensure your personalised care plan is always up to date with any changes you or your loved one requires.

Therefore, we have gone the extra mile investing time in a care system which allows updates at any point on an electronic system, a phone system that never goes down so you have peace of mind there is always someone to answer the phone should you need to call us and of course a full 1 to 1 personalised care plan process which is built with you not for you.
