CareYourWay Chichester kicked off their summer season this week with their first community event of the year, ‘Tea, Talk & Tactics’ — an engaging and heartwarming afternoon focused on scam awareness, connection, and community.
Held at the Royal British Legion in East Wittering, the event brought together local residents, families, and support organisations for a thoughtful and informative gathering. Guests were welcomed into a warm, friendly space to learn more about protecting themselves and their loved ones from scams, while also enjoying time with others in their local area.
The highlight of the event was a talk led by Rich, the local Community Officer, who offered expert advice on recognising the signs of scams and how to respond safely. With clear, practical guidance and time for open discussion, attendees left the session feeling more confident and empowered.
Director and Registered Manager, Gemma Chambers, shared:
“We all learnt so much, but it didn’t feel heavy. It was friendly, helpful and really reassuring — an amazing presentation!”
CareYourWay Chichester was also joined by Age UK West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, who kindly came along to offer further support, advice, and resources to attendees, helping to round off a truly collaborative event.
To end the afternoon on a high note, everyone enjoyed delicious cream teas — a perfect way to relax, chat and reflect on the day. With the scones served and the conversations flowing, it was clear the event had achieved more than just raising awareness — it had brought people together.
“This is what community care is all about,” said Mark Chambers, Business Manager. “Bringing people together, sharing support, and having those everyday conversations that can make a real difference. We’re incredibly proud to be part of a community that values connection so deeply.”
‘Tea, Talk & Tactics’ marked the beginning of a series of events CareYourWay Chichester will be hosting throughout the summer. Their next event is scheduled for 23rd June, and all are warmly invited to join.
