On Wednesday 30th September, CareYourWay Chichester welcomed clients, families, team members and members of the local community to Bracklesham Barn for a special Macmillan Coffee Afternoon, bringing people together for an afternoon of conversation, companionship and fundraising.
While raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support was an important part of the afternoon, the event also created something particularly meaningful for local clients supported by CareYourWay Chichester’s home care professionals: an opportunity to come together, meet others and simply enjoy good company.
For people receiving care at home in Chichester and the surrounding communities, opportunities for social connection can make an important difference. The afternoon, in addition to CareYourWay's monthly coffee mornings, offered clients the chance to step outside their usual routines, enjoy time with familiar members of the CareYourWay team and build new connections with others from their local community.

Bracklesham Barn was soon filled with conversation and laughter as guests settled down over tea, coffee, cakes, scones and fresh fruit.
Clients supported by the local team were able to spend the afternoon chatting with one another, catching up with their home care professionals and enjoying the simple pleasure of sharing an afternoon with other people.
Creating these opportunities is an important part of CareYourWay Chichester’s approach to personalised home care. Loneliness and social isolation can have a significant impact on people living at home, particularly where changes in health, mobility or personal circumstances make it more difficult to maintain the social connections they once enjoyed.
Providing great home care is therefore about more than completing practical tasks. It is about recognising the person behind the support, understanding what brings meaning to their life and helping them remain connected to the people and communities around them.
Guests were also encouraged to wear their finest green in support of Macmillan, adding an extra splash of colour to the afternoon.
Alongside the refreshments and conversation, CareYourWay Chichester held a fundraising raffle, giving guests the chance to take home a prize while supporting the work of Macmillan Cancer Support.
A collection pot was available throughout the afternoon, with clients, families and guests generously contributing. Some clients added their loose change to the collection, with every contribution helping towards the team’s fundraising.
The local team also made its own contribution, adding to the generosity shown by everyone who attended.

For the CareYourWay Chichester team, the afternoon reflected an important part of what home care should achieve: helping people continue to enjoy meaningful, connected lives within their local community.
Whether through companionship, personal care, dementia care or support with everyday living, CareYourWay's home care professionals build relationships with the people they support and take time to understand what matters to them as individuals.
Sometimes that means helping someone remain independent within their own home. At other times, it can mean creating an opportunity to get out, meet somebody new, share a conversation or simply enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake in good company.
The Macmillan Coffee Afternoon brought those principles together, creating a welcoming space where clients could spend time with familiar faces, form new friendships and feel part of the wider CareYourWay Chichester community.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who joined the afternoon, donated, took part in the raffle and helped make the event so special.
For Mark, Gemma and their team, seeing clients enjoying conversations, sharing stories and laughing together was every bit as important as the fundraising itself.
The afternoon demonstrated how small opportunities to bring people together can create meaningful moments of connection, particularly for those who may otherwise spend much of their time at home.
As a local provider of home care in Chichester and the surrounding communities, CareYourWay Chichester will continue looking for opportunities to help the people it supports remain independent, socially connected and part of the communities they know and love.
And if that can occasionally be achieved over a cup of tea and a particularly good slice of cake, all the better.
