Our South Devon Coffee Afternoon Raised £400 for Macmillan, with Music, Treats & Delights!

CareYourWay’s Macmillan Coffee Afternoon brought the community together with music, cake, and a bake-off, raising £400 for Macmillan in a heartwarming Event.

Supporting Macmillan as a Community

On the 26th of September, CareYourWay South Devon brought the local community together for a truly heartwarming Macmillan Coffee Afternoon at East Allington Village Hall. The event was a celebration of community spirit, music, and delicious treats, all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Opening Ceremony

The afternoon began with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony by a much-loved member of our community, Val, who opened the event with warmth and enthusiasm. As guests entered, they were greeted with freshly baked cakes, hot cups of tea and coffee, and the soothing sounds of live music performed by our talented in-house trainer, Rob.

A Special Performance by Diptford Primary School

We were also incredibly fortunate to be joined by students from Diptford Primary School, who treated everyone to some wonderful songs from their recent summer performances. Their beautiful singing moved many of our guests, reminding us all of the joy and talent in our local community (please see article cover photo).

Our Staff Bake-Off

One of the highlights of the afternoon was our Staff Bake-Off, judged by two of our amazing clients, Pam and Jeremy!

After tasting an array of delicious bakes from our home care team, the winning cake was awarded to Ellie, our Rota Co-ordination Assistant, whose baking skills and scrumptious Apple Crumble Cake left a lasting impression. Jeremy even shared a joyful dance with our CEO, Sarah Sabater, to "Fly Me to the Moon," creating a moment that had the whole room smiling.

Local Support & Donations Raising £400

In total, we are delighted to announce that we raised an incredible £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This achievement was made possible by the generosity of everyone who attended, as well as the local businesses and individuals who kindly donated prizes for our fundraising raffle, including:

  • Totnes Cross Garage
  • D&G Nails, Kingsbridge
  • Babbacombe Model Village
  • Occasional Cards, Kingsbridge
  • The Devon Artisan Hub
  • Coleridge Farm
  • The Veg Shed and Box & Bridle
  • Garden Time
  • Peter Betteridge, The Bed Experts
  • Potters Nursery
  • Avon Mill Garden Centre
  • Springfield Farm Shop
  • Aune Valley
  • Anthea at the Devon Valley Studio
  • Trevethan Gin
  • The Fortesque Arms
  • Plus many generous local individuals!

The support from the community was truly overwhelming, and we are so grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

A Final Thank You to All

It was an afternoon filled with connection, laughter, and heartfelt moments, showing once again the strength and warmth of our local community. We’d like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future. Together, we are making a difference.
