Cerebral Palsy Care

At Care Your Way, we can help to live your life as independent as possible.

Introduction

Cerebral palsy is the general term for a number of neurological conditions that affect movement and coordination. Neurological conditions are caused by problems in the brain and nervous system.

Specifically, cerebral palsy is caused by a problem in the parts of the brain responsible for controlling muscles. The condition can occur if the brain develops abnormally or is damaged before, during or shortly after birth. At Care Your Way, we can help to live your life as independent as possible.

How We Can Support You

During the last 15+ years, we have always provided care services with the aim of providing support and independence for those wanting to remain at home during their periods of illness. Being at home is often the most comforting place a person with CP can be. With our support, you’ll need to think of what your daily goals are. For example, most people with CP want to learn how to be as independent as possible while also engaging in daily socialization. Regardless of what your ultimate goals are, it’s a good idea to make a list of things you want to accomplish. An example goal list may include:

  • Promoting self-independence
  • Practising daily living activities
  • Social interaction learning
  • Healthy meals scheduled in advance
  • Practice daily physical therapy
  • Practising grooming and hygiene skills

If you need assistance in setting up home goals, talk with your child’s physician, therapist, or others who care for children with CP. Often, other people who were in a similar situation may offer goals to strive for that you may not have thought of yet.

With our team of friendly care staff, we can help you to make plans to help you reach your goals. For instance, if one of your goals is to make sure you have scheduled mealtimes with the appropriate diet, we can help you with the planning of meals in advance, we can also help you with your personal care. All our support workers are positive, friendly and ready to go the extra mile. Together we’re committed to empowering and helping you or your loved one experience the best quality of life possible. They’ll give all the support needed to achieve life goals. This could be finding a job, going into further education, living independently, or enjoying a social life – our carers are always full of encouragement. We also understand the need for a good relationship between carers and those they look after and the continuity our clients need. As well as providing care and support, our carers are also there to offer companionship. Please contact us for further information or any question you may have.
