In the spirit of remembrance and celebration, the CareYourWay South Devon team came together this week to honour VE Day with a gesture as thoughtful as it was delicious. On Thursday, 8th May, 65 beautifully prepared cream teas were hand-delivered to clients across the region—a special treat to mark this important moment in history.
Each cream tea included a delicious scone, generous pots of clotted cream and jam, and a charming Union Jack flag to top it all off. As the sunshine peeked through the clouds, the team set off with picnic baskets in hand, ready to surprise clients with something sweet—and with even sweeter company.

An invitation had been sent out in the weeks leading up to the occasion, offering clients the chance to receive a VE Day cream tea. The response was full of warmth and enthusiasm, with many expressing how much they were looking forward to the visit.

What a lovely surprise, thank you all so much. I certainly didn't have a cream tea at home so this is lovely. My Grandfather was in the war so this is very special, and will make this day even better. - Client in South Devon.

Back at the office, the day began with laughter and excitement as the team dressed in red, white and blue to proudly wear the colours of the flag. A spirited production line quickly formed, with scones being carefully packed and cream and jam pots neatly arranged. As always, it was a real team effort—one that highlighted the heart and dedication that runs through everything CareYourWay does.

Five of the South Devon team then took to the roads, personally delivering each cream tea with a smile, a friendly chat, and time to catch up. These moments offered more than just a delivery—they were a chance to reconnect, share stories, and spread joy.

Sarah Sabater, CEO and Nominated Individual of the South Devon office, remarked:
“At CareYourWay, our teams have always prided themselves in going above and beyond wherever they can, and to mark this year’s VE Day, we wanted to do just that. This celebration was about more than cream teas, it was about creating a moment of joy and connection. We invited our clients who wished to take part, and with help from our local community, we were able to make the day truly special. It’s these little gestures, shared with love and care, that remind us all how important it is to feel remembered and valued.”

CareYourWay would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Community Champions at the Tescos and Morrisons supermarkets in Kingsbridge, Devon, and to others who generously donated and supported to help make this event possible.
As always, CareYourWay remains committed to going above and beyond—not just in care, but in community spirit. The team is already looking forward to the next celebration, where once again, kindness will be served with a generous dollop of jam and cream - with the addition of new participants, including little Eddie Sabater, the youngest member of the Sabater family!
