Helping to Name a Bear

Recently, the team had the joy of spending a truly special afternoon with one of their cherished clients, Sylvia, to surprise her with a very special gift!

As part of this year’s Present for a Pensioner fundraising campaign, the team ran a “Name the Bear” competition, with entries submitted by the local community at the Kingsbridge Show in September. As Sylvia was nominated to receive a hamper in last year's event, we invited her to help choose the winning name, which she was delighted and very keen to participate in. A few weeks ago and over a cosy cup of tea, she carefully considered all the entries, enjoying the task but finding it wonderfully tricky to decide. After thoughtful consideration, she chose “Cuddles” as the winning name.

When the bear was collected by the winning family, Sylvia was happy to have taken part — but it was clear she had grown very fond of Cuddles. “He is just such a poppet!” she said, whilst finding it hard to say goodbye to such an adorable teddy!

A Special Thank You with a Special Surprise

To show their appreciation for Sylvia’s support, the team arranged a brand-new CareYourWay bear just for her! When we visited her again, Sylvia’s face lit up with joy as she met her very own bear, whom she named “Teddy.” She was thrilled, excited to show him to her carers, and delighted that Teddy would now be a daily companion, bringing comfort, smiles, and a little fun to her home.
